There's a piece at Deadline that has people talking right now. If anything, it serves as a reminder of one project Edgar Wright has waiting in the wings since 2012: A big screen adaptation of Kolchak: The Night Stalker.

Within the last week, the halls of geekdom rattled when Marvel and Wright parted ways over Ant-Man, next year's superhero offering starring Paul Rudd. Deadline posits that Wright is moving right into that project next, however, it's going to be contingent on star Johnny Depp's availability.

The site says The Night Stalker script by D.V. DeVincentis (Grosse Pointe Blank) is "strong."

The Night Stalker first aired in ’72 and followed Kolchak, an investigative reporter who was on the hunt for a Las Vegas-based serial killer who turned out to be a vampire.  Richard Matheson penned the screenplay.

But is this really Wright's next project?

May I remind you that last August, Wright hinted at an original horror project that he was developing with Big Talk and Film 4. At that time, he mentioned he was researching the story, but he didn't offer much more than that.
